Welcome to Ethiopia, Africa's best-kept secret!

Calling all sun-worshippers,
would-be Indiana Jones's,
lovers of high mountains and
endless vistas, David Attenborough
sound-alikes, shopaholics,
culture-vultures - in fact,
anyone
with a thirst for adventure.....

Ethiopia is for you!

Dec 27 - Simien Mountains - Chennek

After another snug night despite the almost freezing temperatures outside the tent, we sat out in the warming sun and ate vast amounts of omelette.  We spent the morning exploring more of this fantastic location and photographing yet more baboons.  Then, sadly, we departed for another bum-numbing drive back to Gonder.  If you come here, don't - whatever you do - come for just one day.  Spend at least two nights. We could have stayed a week.

Omelette washed down with Ethiopian coffee.

Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.

Locals hitch a ride through the mountains.

One last photo of the campsite.
A local market on the way back to Gonder.  Locals will often walk
for three hours carrying huge loads of produce on their head to
sell for a few birr at market.

Chris tucks into a meal of....er....vegetables(?) on a bed of injera.
I can't help noticing that a large proportion of the meal remains uneaten.
